Summer School

A four-day interdisciplinary programme exploring how AI, digital innovation, and data-driven systems can support sustainable coastal development, blue economy solutions, and resilient mobility.

Connected Coastal Futures

The ICRAIS Summer School 2026 is a post-conference interdisciplinary programme for students, focusing on the use of AI, digital platforms, and data-driven systems for sustainable coastal development.

The programme explores how digital innovation can be applied responsibly to address real-world challenges in coastal regions, particularly in the areas of the blue economy, sustainable mobility, and climate resilience.

Focus Areas

  • AI and digital innovation for sustainable coastal regions
  • Blue economy, marine resources, and sustainable value creation
  • Smart and resilient mobility systems
  • Digital monitoring and decision-support systems
  • Responsible, ethical, and context-sensitive AI applications

Programme

The Summer School takes place over four structured days. Participants work in international and interdisciplinary teams on practical challenges, from problem definition to the development of initial AI-enabled solution concepts.

Target Group

The programme is designed for undergraduate and master’s students from information systems, computer science, engineering, sustainability studies, and related disciplines.

Outcomes

At the end of the Summer School, teams present their solution ideas in short pitches. Expected outcomes include digital solution concepts, prototype ideas, and recommendations for the responsible use of AI in sustainability contexts.

Partnership

The ICRAIS Summer School 2026 strengthens academic collaboration between Germany and Mauritius and creates a platform for young researchers and innovators in the field of AI for Sustainability.
